Why the search?
Years of work with vulnerable populations and ministry work taught me two important things. Burnout is real and highly likely in ministry and creative work. And humans who serve other humans are some of the loneliest humans around. They are surrounded by people but work alone, occupied by pouring out inspiration for others, leaving little behind for themselves.
The lonely roles of creative work, caregivers, therapists, pastors, and servant leaders carry a weight of responsibility that often exceeds the available support, leaving a void they do not have time or energy to address. The opportunities to discover or develop a trusted, safe space to be a vulnerable human are rare. I want nothing more than to offer that space. A place where your personal sacrifice is noted. A place where the ache of being unseen is acknowledged and the tension between self-care and the greater good finds balance in the arms of our Creator. Welcome, friend, to the search for light.
A light at your feet
You won’t have to worry about forming a search party. I will come to you via your inbox, leaving a little illumination for your week where it is easy to reach.
A community that serves you
Be involved as little or as much as you would like. Whether it is just your weekly spark of inspiration or engaging in community with other lonely roles through the Sunlight Scribes group, you choose the level you have time to give. Just remember, you need renewal too. A little light can go a long way.
